25. Maximize your sessions…

You can’t expect to receive the maximum benefit from tele-therapy services if you don’t treat your sessions with the same level of privacy and focus that you would implement during an in-person session. Your tele-therapist will always have privacy and focus. It is up to the client to ensure maximum confidentiality and minimum distractibility. Be sure to remember what is in your circle of control so that you can get the most out of your sessions. Many therapists will have no choice but to end your session if you cannot find a private spot. When writing/ typing down your next appointment time, it may be helpful to pad the start time by a few minutes to allow yourself time to turn off distractions, get the kids situated, grab your water, and take a deep breath or two before your session begins!
