39. I don’t have the time or money for therapy…
Time and money: Two things that will control us if we don’t control them... Well, those and social media, but that’s a whole other blog post for another time!
With so many therapists and so many online search directories today, it’s totally possible to find a therapist that is a good fit for your needs, your budget, and your schedule. It just takes a little research and patience.
PsychologyToday is the most extensive therapist search database- it even comes with filters so you can narrow your search based on your needs. Many therapists take insurance. Private pay (aka self-pay) therapists can usually create a “super bill” that you may submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Additionally, many private pay therapists also accept HSA and FSA accounts. (Post coming soon on benefits of sessions with a private pay therapist).
Now, regarding you *feeling* like you don’t have enough time for therapy: You may benefit from a 30 or 45 minute session instead of a full hour. Additionally, you may enjoy the benefits of online therapy in order to cut down on travel time, traffic, lobby check-in and wait times, etc.
Time and money don’t have to be barriers to services. We make time for things which we want to make time. What will you do for yourself today?
