19. What is CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Even though certain situations are beyond our control, the way in which we choose to think about and respond to these situations is completely up to us.

One of the most relatable examples of this is: A rainstorm. If the weather predicts 100% chance of rain, there is literally nothing we can do to stop the rain, right? However, what we choose to do to prepare and protect ourselves *is* in our control. We throw on a rain jacket, pack the umbrella, and walk a little faster to our car. Not doing these things would allow the rainstorm to completely control (and ruin) our day.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a form of thinking that practices the ability to be aware of, and having the skills to challenge and change, your automatic thoughts, which can directly effect your mood and therefore your actions… and therefore your thoughts and feelings about your actions… and so on and so forth!

Ahh, CBT is just the best!
